Suzuki GN250 is a 4 valve single cylinder, Air-cooled, SOHC, 250cc, 4 stroke standard motorcycle made by Suzuki Motors. Its smaller cousin is known as GN125 with a smaller displacement (125cc) engine. GN250 is a cruiser like street oriented popular learner’s bike. There was also the GN400, on the UK market between 1982?84, which unusually used a 6 volt electric system.
The bike has a large rear sprocket and produces usable torque at low rpm. Instrumentation included a speedometer, odometer with trip, high beam, turn indicators, and a gear position indicator. The engine automatically shuts off if the bike is put into gear when side stand is down. The Suzuki GZ250 is a more cruiser oriented version of GN250 in terms of dimensions with same drivetrain. Specifications include a five speed transmission with cable-actuated clutch, electric starting (with kickstarter in the JDM), clutch and side stand interlocks (cut-outs), electronic ignition system, maintenance free battery, tubular steel frame with load bearing (stressed member) engine, rear drum brake and front 275mm dual-piston caliper disk brake by Tokico, chrome-plated locking gas cap, passenger pillion separate from the driver’s seat, plastic front and rear fenders, factory equipped tool kit (under the right side panel), helmet lock, tapered chrome muffler, and chrome wired wheels. Cheng Shin tube-type tires are fitted as standard equipment: 90/90-18 front and 110/90-18 rear. Drive is via a 108 link, DID520V chain.

There is no fuel gauge, however a “fuel low” light is present, which gets brighter as the reserve level is approached. Filling up at the lowest brightness of the light will result in only half the fuel capacity of the motorcycle being used. The bike has a 4 L (0.88 imp gal; 1.1 US gal) reserve, switched to with the usual fuel cock on the left hand seat unit fairing.
The 400 cc version is somewhat different, and uses the engine from the Suzuki GSF400 fitted with 32 mm Mikuni carburetors.
The 900 uses a stainless 4-2-1 exhaust header while the 600 and 400 bikes use steel 4-1 headers. The later 600, and all the 900 versions use a tri-bolt can fitment. The earlier 600 and all 400 RF bikes use a slip on with link pipe system, with a join below the center of the bike
