The Suzuki Gemma is a motor scooter introduced as a concept motorcycle at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2007, and commercially available in Japan beginning in 2008. It is not a step-through frame design like most scooters; instead, there is a cargo compartment ahead of the operator and between the operator’s legs.

Several variants of the 1982 (Z model year) Katana 1100SZ were produced by Suzuki to support racing. The GSX1000SZ (circa 1981) was a 998cc variant of the GSX1100SZ produced in sufficient numbers to homologate the type as production machine that was eligible for modification for racing under the then current international superbike racing rules which included a 1000cc capacity limit. The GSX1000SZ had frame serial numbers beginning with GS10X-500001~, and were fitted by the factory with a performance inlet camshaft (part 12711-49201) paired with the same exhaust camshaft as the standard GSX1100SZ (part 12700-45820). In 2005, Suzuki re-branded its lineup of cruisers as its Boulevard series, renaming the VL1500 the Boulevard C90. Aside from a name change and cosmetic differences, Suzuki replaced the carburetor with a new multi-port fuel-injection system that was borrowed from Suzuki’s Suzuki GSX-R line of racing bikes. They also added a 32-bit ECU processing chip and a marginally revised 3.7 gallon fuel tank.
The engine’s torque and acceleration were increased by the introduction of the new fuel-injected system, with dual throttle valve and auto fast-idle systems. The engine uses SCEM cylinder plating. Suzuki said the engine developed 50 kW (67 hp) @ 4,800 rpm and 114 N?m (84 lbf?ft) @ 2,300 rpm
