The Suzuki FXR150 is a sport bike made in Malaysia by Lion Suzuki Motor. It is powered by a four-valve, DOHC four-stroke 147 cc (9.0 cu in) single-cylinder engine. Lion Suzuki Motor produces the motorcycle with 75% local content. It replaced the slightly larger in size two-stroke Suzuki RG150/RGV150. It features a full digital dash which displayed fuel, rpm, speed and gear. The frame is made of box cut steel and had a banana-shaped rear swingarm. It has a single mono shock on the rear with a single disc brake. The front suspension is a traditional telescopic fork also with a single disc brake. The wheels are five-spoke Enkei mag type wheels. During the 1960s, Suzuki showed that it was serious about staying at the forefront of the motorcycle business. In the fall of 1965, they introduced the T20 Hustler twin (aka X6 or Super Six) as a 1966 model with 250 cc displacement, automatic oil injection and the world’s first six-speed transmission in a production motorcycle.

In late 1967, building on their success with the T20, Suzuki introduced the T500/5 (Cobra in the US/Canada markets and Titan elsewhere) as a 1968 model. This was a 500 cc twin-cylinder air-cooled bike with a five-speed transmission. It was able to do over 100 mph, durable, handled reasonably well, especially on motorways and sweeping bends and went on to be produced in the tens of thousands until the end of the 1977 model year. The “Cobra” model name was dropped at the end of the first year of production, apparently after Suzuki received a letter from the Ford Motor Company’s legal department. Ford at that time had an agreement to market the Shelby Mustang “Cobra” automobile so they took offense at Suzuki’s use of the name. In 2004, market researchers from the US and Japan began working to identify which elements of the Hayabusa design had attracted so many buyers, discovering that, in spite of having its looks sometimes disparaged in print, customers were much enamored with the old Hayabusa. A redesign meant to strengthen the bike’s appearance without departing much from the original found approval with dealers and focus groups. Underneath the skin, Suzuki decided to save considerable development cost by keeping major portions of the frame and engine unchanged. This was because engineers had determined greater power was possible without a significant redesign of the old engine, even faced with the need to comply with more stringent noise and air pollution rules.[44] The target was to produce more than 190 bhp (142 kW) at the crankshaft, and they delivered 194 hp (145 kW), an 11 or 12 percent increase over the previous output.[42][43][45] When the new Hayabusa was released, independent tests bore this out, with 172.2 bhp (128.4 kW) @ 10,100 rpm measured at the rear wheel.[3
