The Kawasaki Ninja 250SL (codenamed BX250), also called Ninja RR Mono in Indonesia (until November 2016, later changed to 250SL), is a motorcycle in the Ninja sport bike series from the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki sold since 2014. The bike replaces the 2-stroke Ninja ZX-150RR (also called Ninja RR) that was produced from 1991 to 2016. It is powered by a 249 cc (15.2 cu in) single-cylinder engine from the KLX250 that produces a claimed 20.6 kW (27.6 hp; 28.0 PS) at 9,700 rpm and 22.6 N?m (16.7 lbf?ft) of torque at 8,200 rpm mated to a 6-speed constant-mesh transmission.

In 1976 the Z1 was replaced by the Kawasaki KZ900 in the U.S. and Z900 in other markets. This was succeeded by the 1977 Kawasaki Kz1000 (“Z1000”) and Kawasaki Z1000 Z1-R, and in 1984 by the Kawasaki Z1100R.

In 1983, Kawasaki won back the crown of the fastest production bike with the Kawasaki GPZ900R which had some other references to its predecessor like the model designation code ZX900, four cylinders and 900 ccm.

The 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr series copied a lot of the design of the first naked Z1, as did the Z1000 in 2003. It received updates in 2007 and a major redesign in 2010.

In 2018 Kawasaki released the Z900RS. While most sport bikes use an aluminum perimeter frame, the ZX-12R uses a unique monocoque aluminum frame. Described by Cycle World in 2000 as a “monocoque backbone…a single large diameter beam” and “Fabricated from a combination of castings and sheet-metal stampings”, this was the first use of this type of frame on a mass-produced production motorcycle. This design surpasses the level of chassis strength and stiffness associated with conventional aluminum perimeter frames. Its intention was also to make the bike narrower, and thereby more aerodynamic. The design saves space by housing the battery and incorporating an efficient airbox and a cartridge-type air filter that slides into the frame. It was fuel injected with four Mikuni 46 mm throttle bodies and was Kawasaki’s first fuel-injected sport bike since the 1981?1985 GPZ110
