The Kawasaki Eliminator is a cruiser-type motorcycle that has been produced in several variants since its introduction in 1985 as the 900 Eliminator. Currently billed as a “power cruiser”, the first two versions of the bike, namely the 1985 Eliminator and 1986 ZL900 models, were almost street replicas of a drag style bike, featuring shaft drive, the ZX900 close-ratio gearbox and forward seating. The engine for both of these machines was the same motor available in the 900ccm Ninja of the same year, albeit with different exhaust and intake configurations.

VTEC valve actuation
The VFR800 was the first non-JDM motorcycle to use VTEC valve-gear. Honda used VTEC to meet tightening noise and emissions standards and to increase the peak engine horsepower. Based on the VTEC-E system, the simplified motorcycle version of VTEC employs only two of the four valves per cylinder when operating at lower engine speeds. All four valves per cylinder are engaged above approximately 6,800 rpm. This is initiated by an electronically actuated oil spool valve, which sends oil pressure to the lifter actuators, which then move the engagement pins into place above the valve stem, allowing the remaining two valves to open. This design allows for variable valve timing as well, since the cam lobe profiles can be made different. After much criticism of the abruptness of power transition, Honda lowered the VTEC activation rpm threshold to 6,400 rpm in 2006. Both the frame and the double-sided swingarm are made of lightweight alloy which are cast in two pieces. The frame castings are bolted together at the headstock and at the rear, but the swingarm parts are welded together. The MT-09 is the first Yamaha motorcycle since the XS750 and XS850 to be powered by an inline-three engine. Both are shaft-driven motorcycles produced from 1976 to 1981.

In 2017, the MT-09 was updated with fully adjustable suspension, traction control, ABS, slipper clutch, LED headlights and new styling

The BMW K1300R is a naked motorcycle made by BMW from 2008 to 2015. When launched, it replaced the K1200R as BMW’s flagship urban motorcycle. BMW says the K1300R produces 173 hp (129 kW) @ 9,250 rpm and 140 N?m (100 lbf?ft) torque @ 8,250 rpm from its 1,293 cc (78.9 cu in) inline-four engine. The engine was subtly modified by British company Ricardo plc. It has an exhaust butterfly flap to boost torque and improve exhaust note.
