While most of the chassis components are identical to the 1098/1198, the motor was an all new design in 2008. Producing roughly 87 kW (116 hp) at the rear wheel, it outperforms the Ducati 916 that had a hard time producing more than 75 kW (100 hp) and even the upgraded Ducati 998 that produced 82 kW (110 hp) at the rear wheel. The “Testastretta Evoluzione” uses a 94 x 61.2 mm bore and stroke for 849 cc of displacement despite the bike’s moniker of 848. The motor casings were constructed using a new vacuum die-casting method called Vacural that helps the engine weigh 7 pounds (3.2 kg) less than the Ducati 749. The intake valves were increased 2.5 mm from the Ducati 749 numbers to 39.5 mm. The exhaust valves were enlarged 1.5 mm to 32 mm. The valve angles are identical to the Ducati 1098. The bike uses a pair of elliptical 56 mm throttle bodies fashioned after MotoGP designs.

The 2011 Ducati 848 Evo featured minor changes to the engine, including new Marelli throttle bodies, revised cylinder heads with straighter intake ports and reshaped combustion chambers. Ducati claimed these changes would result in a 4.5 kW (6 hp) increase, bringing output to 140 hp (100 kW) measured at the crank; however, Cycle World magazine’s first dyno test of the engine showed a mere 1.6 hp (1.2 kW) increase over the previous motor ducati superbike wallpaper, ducati, ducati multistrada, Motorcycle wallpapers, ducati multistrada wallpaper

The 2015 Ducati Multistrada 1200 was redesigned with new fairings and the Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) motor using hydraulically actuated adjusters to vary timing thru 90? of camshaft rotation. The new motor has a claimed 160 hp (120 kW) and 100.3 lb?ft (136.0 N?m) torque and 8% better fuel mileage as well as a longer maintenance schedule (18,600 miles for valve adjustments). There is a new 5-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) measuring pitch, roll and yaw to enhance ABS (cornering ABS), DTC and Skyhook. It also enables Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), and cornering lights that activate at over 20 mph (32 km/h) and 7? lean angle. Switchgear is backlit. Electronic cruise control is now standard on both base and S models. The display has been redesigned with the base still having a LCD display but the S model now has a full color TFT display. (Motorcycle)Ducati Hypermotard Motorcycle
The first 2007 Hypermotard was available in two configurations: the base ‘1100’ model and the higher specification ‘1100S’ model. The more expensive 1100S featured a durable low friction diamond-like carbon (DLC) black coating to the front fork sliders, an ?hlins remote reservoir rear shock, the same Brembo Monobloc brake calipers used on the 1098, lighter forged aluminium Marchesini wheels with a red pin-stripe, Pirelli tires, plus carbon fibre fork protectors, timing belt covers, front mudguard/ fender and tail/ exhaust side panels. These upgrades made for a 2 kg (4.5 lb) weight saving; 177 kg (390 lbs) versus 179 kg (395 lbs) for the base model.

The specification remained virtually the same for 2009, however the 1100S model received 48 mm Kayaba forks (with DLC coating) to replace the 50 mm Marzocchi items, while lower-spec Marzocchi forks continued to be offered on the base model. Also, for 2009 the 1100S model came with Ducati’s DDA telemetry/ data-logging device and software.

For 2010, the Hypermotard 1100 has been changed enough for the two models to receive new names reflecting the fact that the bike has ‘evolved’. The 1100 Evo and the more expensive top of the line 1100 Evo SP feature a redesigned engine which is no longer Dual Spark and has Siemens fuel injection in place of the previous models’ Marelli system. The higher-compression engine is said to give 5 bhp (3.9 kW) more, outputting 95 bhp (69.9 kW) at a slightly lower engine speed of 7,500 rpm. Torque is fractionally lower than it was before at 75.9 lb-ft (10.5kgm), but peak torque appears 1,000 rpm higher in the rev range at 5750 rpm, which Ducati say allows owners to hang-on to gears for longer. A new oil cooler has been fitted, with 85% more cooling area than before. The final drive gearing has also changed from 15/42 to 15/41
