The R259 1,085 cc flat-twin engine has a maximum output of 90 horsepower (67 kW). The engine was named “Oilhead” as it had air-cooled cylinders but oil-cooled heads.

The BMW R1100RS used a frameless design, using the engine as a stressed member, an approach used by BMW for all subsequent oilheads (except the R1100S). Instead of having conventional telescopic forks, the R1100RS used BMW’s own Telelever suspension which bolted directly to the engine. The Telelever design has a superficially similar appearance to telescopic forks, but braking forces are taken back horizontally, minimising “fork dive”. A rear subframe supported the rider, passenger and luggage. Both fully faired and half-faired variants were available.

In 1993 the engine was adopted for the R1100GS. In 1999, a more powerful six-speed version of the R259 engine was fitted in the BMW R1100S. In 2013 BMW introduced liquid-cooling for their flat-twin motorcycle engines, but the company still fit oilhead boxer engines to roadsters such as the R nineT and the R1100R harley, superbike, buell wallpaper, Motorcycle wallpapers, suzuki gsxr

(Motorcycle)Suzuki GSX-R1100 Motorcycle
As motorcycles have evolved, perspectives on the GSX-R1100 have changed. When the bike was new, magazines lauded its power, handling and relative lack of weight. But today’s authors who compare it against 1994’s introduction of the Supersports bikes, driven by Tadao Baba’s development of the Honda Fireblade, can use 20/20 hindsight to be more critical. Recent articles (some in comparison with newer sport bikes) still rave about the powerful 1100 cc engine but otherwise describe the GSX-R1100 as large, heavy, and unstable. Some of these assertions were borne out by Suzuki’s year-to-year tinkering with the frame geometry in order to make the bike handle better. The result is that different years have different handling characteristics on the road. Earlier bikes are lighter but the square-section alloy frame is prone to warping under extreme stress while later models are more rigid and offer increased power but suffer from increased weight Motorcycle wallpapers#YamahaMotorcycles #Ducati #Motorcycles #Triumph #MotorbikeWallpaper

(Motorcycle)Honda CB900F Motorcycle
In 1969 Honda introduced its flagship CB750 superbike, whose success led to Honda’s domination of the motorcycle market. Honda had been successful in European endurance racing with their RCB-series RS1000, and had made advances in suspension technology from their experience in motocross, and the company chose to base a new DOHC roadster on their endurance racer.

The CB900F’s design was aimed at European markets, rather than the usual focus on the United States, where it was not available until 1981. In Europe, it was initially named Super Sport like the 750 (FZ and FA) later named after the Bol d’Or endurance race. In the market, the CB900F competed with larger capacity bikes like the Kawasaki Kz1000, Suzuki GS1000, and Yamaha XS1100
